My Father Is A HERO by Coco Wang

I received a forwarded mail from my aunt today. For the norm, these mails would straight away get into my Trash Bin but not this...this special one really wet my cheeks. I hoped that everyone out there felt the same. Let us contribute in any other ways that you can for them. They need you and warmth that you sent.

Trust me these strips are not any ordinary strips!

My World, My Future

After 3 weeks in Intel, I am convinced that I have made the correct choice. I love my job. I am now in the ideal environment to work in and I am happy with my task.

To many, the impression that they have on Intel is a pressure cooker like place to work in. But if you would ask me, well it is indeed very stressful but it is this stress that put us forward in front of our competitor. Healthy internal stress made me grow.

'Great Place to Work', that is one of our six Intel's core value. Just by this, it shows how much effort we have placed just for our comfort. Practicing flexi-hour and allowing work from home are great news for me and many other mainlander. We need not have to rush our way through that 2 narrowed lanes on Penang Bridge.

As an MNC, we have people working here from all different background...race, age, nationality and etc. Hence the oneness is a very important factor here. English is our key to unity. All official documents and meetings are conducted in English.

But sometimes, we just got drifted away. As most of us are of 1 race, we tend to speak in our own dialect. So recently we have launched another interesting campaign pertaining to this. It is called 'Stop Kilikulu'. Posters can be seen everywhere...even in the toilet.

Just got my pay this week...and I did a wonderful thing. It is my pledge and commitment to the community. Something which I have in my mind since last year after the Famine-30 program. I have signed up to sponsor a child...RM50 per month to feed and provide the necessities to him/her. Really hope these children would get all they need.

And of course....I have to reward myself for the hard work...so on Friday night, I have Japanese buffet in Tao...was too hungry for photographs...yummy! The best dishes there are the grilled salmon, scallop and butterfish, chawan mushi, lamb shoulder steak, sashimi, handrolls and many more.

this is our first round serving

And bought my family a lunch in Swensen on Sunday...my pepperoni and cheese pizza was excellent...surely better than Pizza Hut's....

What an excellent week!

The Current and the past

Recent political movement in Malaysia has been an interesting topic to be discussed out both locally and internationally.

The past still could not get over on their past glory while the current ones trying to prove themselves.

Today on the star news, we have Lim Guan Eng echoing on how much he has done while on another article Koh and coalition trying to claim victory . Well to my observance and understanding as an anak Penang, we have more that can be accomplished looking at our glory days decades ago and yet now we have been left behind for many years...industrial--slow, tourism--disaster, transportation&infrastructure--delay(worse when it is delayed indefinitely), people's welfare--what more that we can ask for...smokers on duty in hospital?

Now that the Pakatan Rakyat is in power, the past administrator is trying to claim their effort...well I just don't buy their say.

While on the Federal governance, I have nothing more to say...neither I would buy Dr M's version nor Pak Lah's. Let's hear from the expert.

Now, let us wait and see if the next political tsunami is hitting us soon...

If it does, hope that it will bring us only positive news ... no more Price Hike untuk Rakyat!

A Leap Forward

After years of studies, finally I am in the next phase of my life. There isn't much changes to my lifestyle except my sleeping hours. I have slept for 4 hours plus daily for the past week and am still adjusting now.

Started my first week in Intel with mixed emotions. There were many surprises and shocking moments.

1st day in Intel started as early as 8.00am. Was told to report in at 7.45pm but was a little late due to the massive and unavoidable jammed on the bridge. It took me slightly more that an hour to travel from BM to Penang.

The first 3 days were very boring with Into Intel Program (IIP). My friends and colleagues attended the Intel University course for 3 full days but I got away for a few slots for I have attended them during my internship...such a relief!

Of all the courses offered, the subject that got most of our attention was the Medical and Benefits slot. The speaker was thrown with lots of questions and clarifications to be made. I could only concluded that Intel offers the best and the most competitive benefits for its' employees. However for those who have a choice to choose between GT in Intel and permanent in other MNC, I would advise that you to think twice. GT does not have the full benefit like a permanent.

So am kind of late on the first day....

2nd day...worse...
got the most known and unwanted parking violation sticker on my car. This was issued to all Intellers' cars who have violated the traffic and parking rules in Intel. Am not sure about others claim that the sticker is hard to be removed. It was pretty easy for me...maybe it was because I got it moments before I finished work and it was not left under the hot sun for too long.

This is not all for 2nd day. My dad's car broke down few hundreds meter from my house. So near yet so far...sigh

3rd day was worst!
With the petrol price hike from RM1.92/liter to RM2.70/liter. This is approximately 40% hike. This is yet another project by our 'beloved' ruling goverment BN's 'Another Project Untuk RAKYAT!'

4th day was pretty good!
Finally I received my laptop. So now I have 1 laptop and 1 workstation for me to work on. I love my laptop. It is a brand new unit of HP 6910...but sadly it is for me to keep but it is not mine. It is only my liability now.

5th day was boring.
So many reading materials. I need them to get myself familiarize with my group and my workload.

So this is my 1st week in Intel...am looking forward for more next week after I meet both my people manager and project manager.
