Petrol Price Increase

I don't believe in their sweet words...I must have knocked my head against the wall numerous time to believe them.

It may be true that this new price is based on APM as claimed by certain parties but is this system implementation always come on the right time? Does the timing of these moves benefit any party in specific?

Personally I just can not accept this increase. I can not treat my car bad but my gov has never be considerate with me, a poor citizen....has got to tighten my belt to pay for my petrol bill now :S

SHIT...RM2.05for RON97...poor for my pocket but good for my car. RM1.80 for RON95...better for my pocket but worse for my car.

What's best for Penang?

It is really sad to learn that we have such a short sighted MP in Malaysia.

MP Datuk Bung Mokhtar Radin (BN – Kinabatangan) questioned the rationale of 2nd Penang Bridge.

This Datuk wanted to know the rationale for spending RM4.3bil for the bridge, adding: “If RM4.3bil is to be given to the poor rural folk, how wonderful. They will be elated especially now, when the economy is not doing well. Voters in Kinabatangan will be thankful for that.” I wonder if he is aware how much Penang has contributed to the country's GDP.

At a glance, I think this will be a very cool idea to develop Penang tourism sector but thinking twice, it is true that we need to take many factors into our consideration.

Factors to consider

1. Safety of the general - Precaution steps to asure the safety of the people
2. Safety of the giant cat - Are we able to provide them a natural habitat and will this project affect them in any ways?
3. Enviromental issue - this project may involves 100-acre Relau Community Park with many durian farms around the area...any major changes to this place to accommodate to this project?
4. Continuity of the mega project - Will this project last or this is just merely a dream of YB Lim alone. Wondering what will happen if we are to invest millions here but the moment the Lim Dynasty is over, will this project be buried along?

I am not convience with this project but if the experds can provide all the supporting documents and able to justify the project, then why not? I am just one of the another concerned Penangites.

Anyway I only hoped for a better Penang. MPs, please do not politicise people's interest and our country's development!

How much do I have to pay them?

How I wished to be able to spend loosely? This will never be possible for I have got into a stable but low income profession. Engineers are averagely very poor or at least I am sure I am poor!

Recently the Selangor state exco declared their income and assets. I was rather shocked to learn about the amount. An average exco members would receive salary and allowances from the state government of approximately RM17,000. Their income may go up as high as RM40,000 per month with few other positions such as the chairman of subsidiaries companies of the state government.

So if the opposition ruling state's exco can have this figure, what about the BN's ruling state and the central government servants? Really curious to learn how much money could the PM of a developing country like Malaysia could earn per month?

Congratulation to all democrat Malaysians

Again Malaysians have decided! Congratulation to all Malaysians, our leader has successfully secured his place in the parliament. We are now a step forward into a democrat and liberal Malaysia.

Besides the by-election, another hot news are the 2nd reading of the DNA Act...NO to DNA Act Amendment!!! It is obvious that this is a politic play by our governing DNA...yes we know that PM and ministers have stepped out explaining the gray situation but this would not help. why now and not later or earlier? Why during the by-election is called and why the 2nd reading is carried forward? Are they all such a coincident or it is a plot?

Is Malaysia an independent Nation?

51 years...she is about to celebrate her 51th anniversary but are we really independence enough?

Malaysians have been brought up to learn that our country has gained its independence from the British empire about half a century. but are actually independence enough in our thoughts and practices. With the political tsunami in the recent 318 election, it showed that some of our countrymen started to have some independence in thoughts. We no longer listen and follow blindly.

With all those tactics played in this Permatang Pauh byelection, I hoped that it would not affected our stands. Let us decide on this professionally. Please think twice before falling into those traps.
Do our votes worth RM2k? I think no...every vote counts. Our future is in the hand of our fellow Permatang Pauh countrymen.
And has the sex life of our politician has anything got to do with us?...sex scandal has been very popular among our leaders. To me...nothing matters about that as long as he is performing his duties well.
And is sumpah is in the trend recently? Or is the Islamic practices converging with Christianity in this matter or is this a part of the judiciary practices in our country?

Let us decide the future of our country! Let us perform our duty as the responsible citizens of this independent nation. And finally bravo to our CM for his wise decision in declaring 826 a public holiday of the state. And kudos to the management of companies and organizations in Penang for giving the people off ...whether it is a whole day off or just hours break...we Penangites appreciate it!

Malaysian media trend

If I am a foreigner who came across any Malaysian media, I would be pretty impressed and attracted to continue on...spending some time to venture into it.

You ask me why?

Well I have to say that we Malaysians are truly unique in many ways and especially in our media coverage. I am not sure if you all out there notice about this trend, but I do. When all other foreign media is busy reporting and evaluating on the world economy and inflation, the local media here is busy propagating and speculating on scandals...wonder which national TV news has got headlines like Report me for oral sex, Soi Lek challenges adversaries and Ka Siong: Show me the sex video, and I will resign immediately .

So what am I bothered about? Sex scandal or the economics...However I have to admit that most of the time, I do keep up with those news...haha...just a mode of entertainment.

Politicians staging drama

Though I have been busy for the past weeks, I still managed to spare some time for this channel of entertainment...my daily routine...10.30pm for news.

Most of the news revolves around the possible leader of our nation who has his years 'meringkuk' in the jail while plotting his master plan on how to rule this nation, Mr Anwar Ibrahim...would he be able to clean his name again on the charge this time?

First we see that he has been arrested instead of given the chance to turn up himself for the investigation, then he has his full body checkup, striping him bare naked and with hospital authority denying its' action. Then we have insider from Raja Petra on the medical report on Saiful done by Dr Mohamed Osman Abdul Hamid. Are we still going to believe that Anwar has commited such a ridiculous action or Anwar is innocent and the ruling party is able to manipulate and over ruled all goverment agencies in the country? Do we still trust the judiciary and law enforcers of our country who kept shouting out loud their moto of 'Tegas, Adil dan Berhemah'?

Finally what I deemed funniest about this staging was, why on earth a sodomy case got the attention of all the leaders and enforcers of our country? Don't they have any other better thing to do? Chief and assistant chief police are busy commenting and throwing press conference. Politicians are busy speculating...I have no idea what will all these led us to but for the near future, it still all so gray...

Let us cross our fingers and pray...

The Current and the past

Recent political movement in Malaysia has been an interesting topic to be discussed out both locally and internationally.

The past still could not get over on their past glory while the current ones trying to prove themselves.

Today on the star news, we have Lim Guan Eng echoing on how much he has done while on another article Koh and coalition trying to claim victory . Well to my observance and understanding as an anak Penang, we have more that can be accomplished looking at our glory days decades ago and yet now we have been left behind for many years...industrial--slow, tourism--disaster, transportation&infrastructure--delay(worse when it is delayed indefinitely), people's welfare--what more that we can ask for...smokers on duty in hospital?

Now that the Pakatan Rakyat is in power, the past administrator is trying to claim their effort...well I just don't buy their say.

While on the Federal governance, I have nothing more to say...neither I would buy Dr M's version nor Pak Lah's. Let's hear from the expert.

Who has got the best cubicle?

Privacy and space has always been a priority in Intel. My employer to be, has been providing one of the best work place for its' employees...giving each of us a 6x6 cubicle fully equipped with a personal computer, telephone, table with sufficient storage place and an ergo chair which I deem as very expensive. According to my last meet with Intel's Safety Engineer who are responsible for the ergo chair, that one chair cost Intel approximately RM800...and with Intel's reputation, I am proud to call myself an Inteller.

With all this fascination on cubicle, I was attracted by the headline on the star...

Ministers get cubicles

My first thought was that I am not the only few that has to bare with the 6 x 6 cubicle but our ministers too...but .............SHOCK of my life...

I bet none could guess correctly on how much would each of the ministers' cubicles would cost...teng teng teng teng...it's all in RM1.7 million which means each of that 21 super luxurious cubicle would cost approximately RM81,000...that is about the cost for more than 1 unit of low cost houses...

Well I do understand that they need those equipments like table, telephone, fax machine and computer and TV...shared unit of copy machine, printer and sofa set for every 2 ministers. But how much would all these cost....

From my googled result
Table : S$2,999.00 from here equivalent to RM6,960.93

Telephone : $499.00 from here equivalent to RM1,572.49
Fax machine : £450.00 from here equivalent to RM2,793.13
Computer : $4999 from here equivalent to RM15,760.84 TV: £999.00 from here equivalent to RM6,201.91

All costings done here are as according to price of the high end product of respective price. For example, I have quoted computer which is named as the top 5 desktop for extreme user and the TV is a LG 42" LCD.

With this kind of budgeting...perhaps I shall consider to tender for this project...I believe I will be able to source for things at price better than the above and quote our gov at a lower price...a win win situation isn't it?...haha

So now looking back at Intel...my cube to be is nothing comparable to the one provided by all Malaysians.

What does she has to revoke our rights?

Tourism memorandums of understanding with Opposition-ruled state governments will be terminated given the change in leadership, said Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said.

I have to condemn that action for I deemed as a silly act. What right has she has to revoke our rights? Choosing an opposition leadership for the state does not mean that we want to have our rights to be striped off. Why do we need a special appointed committee as what Datuk claimed as similar practise to PAS-held Kelantan instead of the current functioning state executive council and local authorities.

If the federal government can change policies and revoke MoU to their likings, then perhaps we too can do things to our likings. Well what if we say we don't pay tax to Federal Goverment...don't get me wrong...i only say dont pay TO fed but instead we channel that tax to some special committee that is able to take care of the people's welfare or set up special unit that can help us in other ways.

wth! Datuk AB...is this what you have ruled for or it is just another drama that you and your cabinet has staged?

As a concerned citizen, this is surely a must read and must be an article to be aware of.

Is NEP an issue here?

NEP has made the headlight for these past few days. Beginning from the statement from the Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng that he would run the state administration free of the New Economic Policy (NEP).

I am truly uncertain about NEP. As I could recall from my past understanding on NEP, NEP has quote nothing on race. It is a policy for rakyat...especially to assist the poor. So if we are to do without NEP, then why are there racial sentiment in it? Is that really such a thing where this policy is custom made for our Malay friends?...if it is not then why do we have this headline "Lawyer lodge report against Penang CM"

“I would like to ask the DAP which community has been made poorer because of the NEP.” said our PM. So I believe with this, obviously if our CM is to run Penang free from NEP, it is not an issue too...for nothing racial and personal here.

Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz has said "The election results signal the beginning of the possible demise of the New Economic Policy (NEP) and special rights for the Malays ....The Malays are saying ‘you can’t scare us by talking about us losing our rights, because we are here on our own merit’.” Nazri said it looked like some Malays felt that the NEP was unfair, and questioned why special rights should be given to the Malays.

So if that is what some of our Malay friends felt like. Then what wrong that Guan Eng has committed to be put up against of? And out of all, I could not understand our UMNO Penang's stand. Our PM has given assurance to Penangites that he will continue to support Penang where else UMNO Penang has made such a stand, "Call to scrap mega project".

I have all my full support and faith to our state government and central government. I believe in Badawi's leadership and Guan Eng's leadership!

Malaysia will heal her divisions

WHILE I am honoured to have been re-elected as Prime Minister of Malaysia and to have received a 63% majority of the 222 seats in Parliament in our just-completed general election, I am also disappointed that we fell a few seats short of the two-thirds majority we were hoping for.

For those who have in the past questioned the legitimacy of Malaysia’s electoral process, the results of Saturday’s election are positive proof that our country does indeed enjoy a free, fair and highly competitive democracy.

As there has been much speculation about the implications of our election results, I wish to offer clarity on three critically important points:

First, we have heard the voice of our citizens, and I will dedicate myself, in this second term, to healing the divisions which became evident during the campaign. That will mean developing new and concrete initiatives, not just rhetoric, that bring our people together and ensure that no one is left behind as Malaysia prospers, whether they are ethnic Malays, Chinese or Indians.

Second, we can achieve the above goal because our economy is indeed strong and stable, with a 7.3% GDP growth rate in the last quarter, nearly full employment, more than US$100bil in foreign exchange reserves, and a flood of foreign direct investment in manufacturing and services that last year reached a record US$13.7bil.

For the benefit of all of our citizens, I intend Malaysia to remain a business-friendly and free market economy with powerful attractions for international investors who, over the past 12 months, have included General Electric of the United States, Britain’s Virgin Group, and important groups from the Middle East and China.

Third, I intend to protect the stability and security of our nation. For all of our citizens to share in the prosperity and opportunities our economy is generating, we must also continue our work to eradicate crime and corruption.

The people’s desire for law and order is as important in Malaysia as it is everywhere. The same is true of the need to make additional progress in battling corruption, which is both immoral and distorts competition in free markets.

Although the size of our majority would be considered a landslide in most countries, the fact that it has significantly reduced and we have had setbacks in five of our 13 states indicates that we need to do more for those who feel disaffected.

Although some quarters have called for me to step aside, my party has given me solid support to carry on our nation-building agenda, something for which I am grateful.

As with any election in any democratic country, there is debate, sometimes heated; there can be divisions, sometimes fierce; then people make their own choices and democratic politicians have to live with the outcome.

What matters most is that governments listen as well as lead, and so I will work hard to create more of a national consensus following our national democratic conversation.

We are listening. I know there is discontent among some parts of our community. I accept it is our responsibility, as the newly re-elected government of all Malaysians, to find practical solutions to ease that discontent, to listen to grievances and to seek to remedy them.

I have tried throughout my period in office to bring our country and our communities closer together. I have stood in firm opposition to those who have sought to divide us along racial, religious and ethnic lines.

We are all Malaysians and we all must have a stake in building a progressive, united and cohesive country. This has always been my approach to government and politics. It is even more important now.

Some people took the opportunity when voting to voice a protest, as can happen in any democracy. We accept the result. That is what democracy is all about. The election results will not diminish for a moment our determination to grow the Malaysian economy, to continue our successful programme of poverty eradication and to provide a level playing field for all.

After an election it is right to have a period of reflection; it is not a time for narrow introspection. Malaysia cannot afford a period of sitting back and risk stalling our progress and our economic growth.

We are in a changing global economy which itself is in increasingly challenging times. That is why, just as it is essential that we reflect internally on the lessons from these elections, it is vital that we look outward internationally to face and overcome the global challenges of economics, peace and international security.

Malaysia will continue to offer business-friendly policies and a welcoming environment for investors. I believe that Malaysia will continue its strong economic growth in 2008. Our vibrant economy and proven record of economic growth will help us prosper despite the economic slowdown and uncertainty in the United States.

What we must now undertake is to move forward as one nation with a renewed sense of a bright future for all.

A Brand New Page on Malaysia History

I was up till 3am today to update on our 12th General Election Result. I believe that many of our twelve hundred thousands passionate new voters like me stayed up late too.

I could not believe the result when I first learned that our famous blogger, Mr Jeff Ooi has been granted the rights to sit in the Parliment. I believe this was an early sign of true democracy in our country...freedom of speech!

Then more positive news for the opposition...wait...should I still named them the opposition...no! I believe it is not very right to name them the opposition, they are just a coalition that oppose those great ideas of the ruling goverment but now that they are the ruling party in Penang, then perhaps we should change...we should call them the goverment and the BN as the opposition.

Besides Penang, our democracy voice has blown and reached out to nationwide. The opposition coalition has claimed victory in Kedah, Perak, Selangor and Kelantan.

Finally congrates to all Malaysian blogger for our Mr Jeff Ooi is heading for the parliament...our 1st blogger in Parliament! And congrates to M Lim Guan Eng for being entrusted as the CM of Penang!


So to all candidates being entrusted in the state assembly or the parliament, I wish them all the best and hope that everyone manage to live up to the expectation of the people!

12th General Election

Into the 51 years of independence, Malaysia will have its' 12th election on next weekend. I wonder how many citizen realize the importance for them to cast their very vote? I am really looking forward to see the day Malaysia being transform into a truly democratic asia country. It is about time for the new blood. Many of our beloved MPs and state assemblymen have been in the positions for too long...29 years in cabinet is surely a dull and boring life to lead...let us all give Malaysia a ... boom boom boom... and let it bounces back in the international arena.

Well I am not surprise to learn that our parliment has been dissolved today following all our recent good news and advertorial on our gov's good deeds nation wide especially to the chinese community...

I am happy for many people has benefitted from our generous gov's act...but...

Well I know that I am not in any position to judge anything but I believe our people are smart enough to decide what's better.

while about Jeff Ooi...I think I would vote for him if he contest in my area...but I believe he wouldn't want to be placed in such a kampung place like Bachang Bubuk...even I have not stepped my foot there...why Bachang Bubuk when I am staying in Bukit Minyak???

Let us choose what's best for us and may Malaysia be free and prosper!

And for me...I can't wait to cast my 1st vote...hmm...another symbol of freedom and adulthood....

Health minister in sex scandal

I believe the title itself would attract many but well this is not my concern. I have no interest in his sex life. I have 3 other major concerns.

1. Is our hotel safe? where is our privacy?
2. Malaysians are still 3rd world minded...why bother about other people's sex scene.
3. Health Minister who is unaware of 1 single sex partner practise

To all Malaysians out there...please do not be so shallow...Dr Chua's sex life has got nothing much to do with us.

Hope that our politicians learn their lesson!

Membership suspension

I am wondering why this Mr Leong has to be suspended from our so called heroic advocates group MCA.

What reputation damage that he has caused until being senteced for a displinary act?

I think it is way ridiculous to suspend it's member just with these reasons :

1. he has invited the Kelantan state Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Anuar Tan Abdullah of PAS to officiate at the swearing-in ceremony of the Kota Baru public library committee recently.

2. he registered the library as an independent body without informing the party

well...may be our Datuk Ong finds it insulting when a PAS leader is being invited over him...where to hide his face right??? A project by MCA but officiate by PAS...KELAKAR!!!

but come on la...if one is sincere in setting up a library, why does he mind so much on how the library is registered as? So if it is not an issue to register the library as an independent body, then of course doing so without informing the party would not be an issue either.

So I can only conclude that it is all a part of their political games....so Leong must learn this...come on la after 2x of suspension still wanna get the 3rd? While for us public, let's watch the game...
