Busy life!

I have been busy for the past days...really tiring.

7 June (Fri) - went for the last bowling training at Penang Bowl before the competition during lunch time. Best score of the day 117...not good but not too bad ;P.

In the evening, dinner cum meeting with sister guides at Louis Cafe at Argyll Road to discuss about our coming QGG camp...great time with friends but the food was not up to expectation based on recommendation from other food hunter.

8 June(Sat) - Went shopping with sis and mum. 1st thing that we got was my new Sony Ericson W595. This was my first ever self paying new mobile phone. I was reluctant to pay so much for a phone cause I am not those upfashion people. Was hoping that for my big bro will change his soon and I could just take over his piece but too bad that my KRZR K1 was not inline with my plan. So another RM730 gone this year for my gears...one lens just flew away :S

We also shopped for my bro's new house 红彩 I also got my baking materials...butter, flour, almond chuck, corn flakes, baking powder, sodium bicarbonate, brown sugar, fine sugar, raisin and cherries.

9 June(Sun) - Accompanied my mum to do some grocerries. By noon, I started my baking. First I made the cornflakes raisin cookies dough then kneed them into bite size pieces followed by the making the almond cookies. It took me close to 4 hours to complete the 4 portions of those biscuits.

10 June(Mon) - Stuck in the traffic jam in the early morning...damn...followed by Monday blues throughout the day.

11 June(Tues) - This was a super tiring day. My day started as early as 7.30am and only got to leave office at 8pm. I was early in office for my weekly team meet with my team mates in US at 7.30am. Then from noon onwards, I was in the Auditorium for the DTTC Conference, I was in as participant cum AV volunteer. So it was good to be able to grasp so much from the conference though I was lost at times. I have learn and acquire a lot of new information and technology. Those presenters are really geeks....salute them for their passion and commitment in developing super advance tech. This conference lasted for 7 hours. By the time I arrived home, it was after 8.30pm.

12 June(Wed) - This was my worse day of the week. It was my mum's birthday. I have arrange for dinner with my family members and at the same time I was also involved in our PCD cup, bowling competition which I have totally forgoten when it was scheduled for. Anyway I managed to sort them out on last minute.

So at 4pm, I left office for Penang Bowl. I winded my car window down as it was extremely hot after hours under the sun...this was when my nightmare begin...That stupid power window could not work. It would not be a big deal if I was unable to get it open but it was really shit when I could not wind it up after getting it all down...I was hoping that things would get better after a while but it didn't.

So I have no choice but to head to a mechanic...didn't expect him to repair it completely but expecting a simple workaround like some bypass just temporary get the window winded up first so that I would not be too late for my game. At first the mechanic said it was the switch that malfunction and advise me to have that change. I agreed since he insisted that the switch was really broken and it was a few minutes work...so RM130 just for the stupid switch. Aparently that simple switch took me close to half hour.

When he was done with the switch, the damn window still wasn't moving. Then he continued with his diagnosis procedure and concluded that the motor was broken too due to the malfunction switch. He disamble the unit and showed me the parts saying that the motor's carbon was already exhausted. He can only simply clean it and made it work...so he disambled the part and asembled it back. Too bad that after all the processes, it still could not work. Again I have been place in a position that I could only agreed to his advice. So another RM60 to get the motor change....

After all the dissamble and assemble, I think he must have felt bad for the wrong diagnostic and he suggested that I changed at least the motor. So again I did as he say...saving me that RM130 but wasted my whole one and a half hour there.

I finally arrived at Penang Bowl at close to 6.30am. I felt so bad for not being there for my group. I felt that I was a stranger to my own group. So I decided to keep myself low and be there just a supporter cum cameraman...walk a round for few shots and cheered for PEDAS...till my sister's arrival at 7.30pm.

We drove all the way to Batu Feringghi's Mario's to celebrate my mum's 51st birthday. It was a costly dinner but we enjoyed our night out.

13 June(Thurs) - I could not recall what I had on that day...

14 June(Fri) - my lunch meeting was canceled for my manager was not in. So during lunch I ask Pau and KH out. It has been 2 years since I last met KH....got a great lunch at Apex Cafe.

In the evening, Vern Han and I called for sister guides gathering at her bor's house in tanjung Bungah...got a great time catching up with everyone else...eat and chat till after midnight...oh yes...must mention here that everyone love my cookies :D

15 June(Sat) - went to RedBox at Gurney for karaoke session with YY, KM and MY. In the evening, I attended the Arabian Night organized by the Danz Club. Was there to support Slyvia and Anne...really great to see them enjoy themselves on the dance floor....I just could not imagine myself on the floor...perhaps it would be a 'KAYU' strolling around the floor...haha.
16 June(Sun) - After a tiring week, I decided to stay back at my room in Jelutong. It was a cleaning day as well as a movie marathon day...finally finished with my Desperate House Wife season 5....phew...

My 4th team building with VTS-M

I love team building. This was my 4th team building in VTS-M...2nd that I organized.

In the morning, we played bowling at Penang Bowl. I was in Group 3 with WE, KW and WK. I enjoyed playing bowling with my colleagues. Never expected there were so many master of the game in my department.
WK, WE, KW and me, SW....seem like this group is only for the Ws.
me in action...1st round score - 122...can't remember how many spares and strikes
me...got the Best Female Player...yeah!

After the game, we headed to the E&O hotel's Sarkies Corner. We had a great buffet lunch there. The food was excellent and the price was good as well...Inteller got 15% off...so it was only RM41.05 per person.
my starter...most of the starter dishes were good
I love the curry chicken and the squid...many more main course choices but my stomach just didn't have enough space for all
even though I was full, still could not resist them...these desserts were 10x better than in G-Hotel
syok sendiri after meal... :D
VTSM gals...girl power!

~45 mins up 60 floors of KOMTAR Tower, Penang

I am really very tired today. It took me approximately 45 mins to run 2 km around Komtar tower, then climb the stairs up straight to the 60th floor of Komtar Tower.

Woke up at close to 6am. Left home for Komtar at about 6.30am after a glass of soy milk and a banana. Then arriving at Komtar, I have got to squeeze in tot he secretariat counter to redeem my t-shirt, my participant number, 2353 and my very lucky, lucky draw voucher...0704.

2353...not sure if I was the 28th or 29th place :D

My run started at about 8am. It was a long wait, for the I was in the 2nd flag off catagories...women open... :S Before I even started running, I was already very tired for the long stand and the place was very crowded and packed up...very stuffy and everyone was sweating.

So we were flagged off at the Komtar Foyer at Lebuh Tek Soon. Continued into Penang Road, Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong, Lebuh Carnavon, Jalan Magazine and back into Penang Road before we started our climb up at the staircase beside Pacific Supermarket along Jalan Dr Lim Chwee Leong.

It was very exhausting to take the stairway. Into half of the way, i have to switch gear to continue my struggle up....every 3 steps I took, I would stop for few seconds for rest...

Was glad that I was able to make it to the 6oth floor and according to my friend, we were still able to make it into the first 30 placing of our category.... bravo! We finished at about 8.45 am...so all in the whole journey took us 45 minutes only...

It took us so long to reach the 60th floor but it was split seconds, we were back on the ground...oups...I mean 5th floor where the podium was. We quickly headed to the drinks stall...glurped in 2 cups of sunquick and 2 cups of 100 plus within second....really thristy!

After resting for a while, we waited patiently in the Q for foot massage...really nice...managed to relax my muscles...
Poh Doo...still can V...

Then it was the long waiting lucky draw session...my 0704 won me the 10th price...a buffet lunch for 2 in Parkroyal Penang and a Rm100 voucher from the Priorities Fitness Center.
my lucky draw price...couldn't remember when was the last time I actually win in a draw

This was really a great experience...another event in my sporty days...
my certificate of participation...received another certificate of completion too

Great start!

Went hiking at Penang Hill today with my parents and sister. We hiked up and down via the tarred road.

Trying to benchmark our fitness level by capturing our time up and unbelievable that we managed to hike up to the top within 1 and a half hours. From the starting point to 46, 24 minutes. 46 --> 84, another 25 minutes. 84 to top, another 30minutes.

Really has to train hard to push this further. My target would be 1 hour 15 minutes by end of this year. Do not take 15 minutes easily, it is extremely difficult! (>.<) So with this target set, I have got to workout more often and for longer duration...on top of my Tues and Thurs gym session of 1 and a half hour, I have got to have more sweaty weekends...so if anyone has any plan for any sports, do let me know.
*No photos during hiking this round as we were in hurry...all taken at the top on my FX7.Sri Aruloli Thirumurugan sitting on top of Penang Hill...approximately 800m above sea level
the pillar with goddess icon
resting on the cooling cannon...shinny face, sweat a lot...:-(
how good if I can stay over a night
Icon of Penang, Penang Bridge from another icon of Penang, Penang Hill
great panaroma shot...see the curving upwards electric cable...was suppose to be hanging and tangling downwards...

Missed out photo of my parents...

Oh yes...bumped into Lions Club...they were having "Climb Penang Hill for the Environment, 2009". Wanted to join ealier but it was already after the closing date when I learn about it. Anyway I was given a certificate of participation too.

1st Teambuilding with VTS-M

This was my first teambuilding with my department as well as my first in Intel. I have missed them last year during my internship.

This time it has been more meaningful for me as I was part of the organizing committee. Lots of preparation has been done for this event. Many unforeseen problems occurred and changed our program 180° straight, from the initial plan of outing to Pulau Jerejak to Treasure Hunt in the Heritage City of Georgetown to this Paintball aka War Game. Lots of meeting and brainstorming session.

Warning! Mask On at all time within the war compound

Anyway, it was really fun. Fun with all the shooting, sharing and winning moments minus the pain and bruises.
this is why we warned for mask on at all time...

The game was run by Promedia Paintball and our war ground was situated at Level 5, Multistory Car Park, PISA, Bukit Jambul. There were 6 groups, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, Echo and Foxtrot. I was in Delta team. The game was run in round robin style where each of the group would play for 3 games and the best 2 would play for the championship. The highest scoring team was Echo while Foxtrot and my team Delta tied with 19 points….however the play went to Foxtrot for having better play time compared to my group…hmm sad...missed another chance to play

Delta warrior...San San, SB, SH, David, Hong and me

hmmm....3rd place only

We began our game after briefing at about 2.30pm. My first game against Alpha was super embarrassing. I was kicked out the field even before I could fire my first shot…It was a random shots from the land across…they were tens of meters away...

Delta warriors masked on

Then my second game, I scored fairly well. I managed to kill 2 opponents and survived till the end while in the 3rd game, I killed 1 opponent and be the last survivor on the ground….yes!

All in the war ground...getting ready for the game
Foong in action

Really enjoyed the game and happy to work with my group…we tried 3 different war ploy in our 3 games….very creative and tacticful

So the winning team was Echo, 2nd place went to Foxtrot and 3rd place went to Delta…

Am looking forward to our next TB event…it would be annual Lunch for this quarter and treasure hunt in next quarter.

VTS-M rocks!

Bukit Tabur

sigh....my leg is really aching even though the hike was 2 days ago.

Last Thursday, I went hiking at Bukit Tabur with my big bro and his colleagues. After my Kinabalu hike, I have been inactive for many months with all my tight schedule. I tend to take things easy. The length and altitude was nothing comparable to Kinabalu but it was still tough. I have always thought that no other spot is worse than Mt. Kinabalu but honestly this place is more physically demanding. Kinabalu is tough because of the length...

But Bkt Tabur was different. It is located in Selangor. Height of less than 1000 meters, is a quartz/limestone combination formation. The Gombak Forest Reserve and Klang Gates Dam are beside the hill. Hence the peak offers spectacular view of the dam.

Bukit Tabur is terrible and scary...you need all your legs and arms...you have to climb almost or near to 90 degrees lime stone and worse is there are cliffs here and there. If you missed one step then that may be the end for you. So with no proper gear or safe line available, it was truly scary. You have to climb like a spiderman. So now both my thighs and arms are aching and bruises and scratches here and there.

This was taken by my brother from the next peak

I am the spiderwoman in white...see how steep it is!

one way passageway...got to be patient

Truly 90 degree...even with the rope there, it was scary

I believe that I don't have to describe a lot about how wonderful this place is with all the photos.

from www.andylim.com
trust me...this is place that worth going but remember to ask your friend along...not advisable for solo.
