A Reminder For Myself

I am so helpless now.

This week is the 1st week of my final exam…my 2nd last final exam in uni but I am way not prepared for it. For the past months in this 7th semester, I have got too many assignments and projects, way more that what I could handle. Though many of my friends would see me very much like past semesters, well no. I looked tough and seem like able to cope…but I am not. I have suffered a lot. I was trying to catch my breath here and there. What I could do was just do my best, submit all that I could afford to produce. I could no longer push myself for more.

And tomorrow I will be sitting for my first paper, High Speed Network but now I could not concentrate at all.

I am worried for my sister. She is admitted to the Pantai Cheras Hospital. I am not sure of what happen to her but I just can’t help but to feel bad for her. Why does she have to go through all this pain? Her vertigo attack was getting worse. She was not well since yesterday and we console each other saying that she needs more rest but not until today morning, I got her call. She said she is not well and has been vomiting since early morning. And very stupid of me to actually ask her what time she wants to go over to Dr Long and she answered any time. I have never thought of the severity and I told her I will be over in an hour.

I guessed she was too tired even to question why I need a whole hour to go over and just agreed to it.

Arriving at her house in Bkt Jalil, I called her again and asked her down. This time in a weak tone, she said she is not able to go down by herself. Then I started to get really worried about her. I quickly parked my car and went up.

Looking at her condition, I was numbed. I didn’t expect that she was in such a terrible condition. She has been vomiting since 6 and it was 11 then. I quickly dressed her and led her down to my car and sped of to Pantai Hospital.

Finally, we met Dr Long, my sister’s doctor on ENT. She has been seeing this doctor since 2 years ago when she first discover about her ear problem which further caused the vertigo. During that time, I was not with her most of the time as I was in the mid of exam, so I didn’t actually understand how she felt. Luckily, she recovered very quickly.

So after consulting Dr Long, she was admitted. After she has settled down, I went back to her house to get her clothing and toiletries. Thinking back, I was still taking my own sweet time just now. Perhaps I still have not registered the severances of the strike on my mind and acted like normally on my usual pace.

I went to the hospital again with her things and bought her ‘Kuey Teow Sup’. We chatted for awhile. I left at about 4.30pm and headed to the Cheras Leisure mall to buy her the Baskin Robbins ice cream that she has dreamed of having. We have been having this crave and waited for so long for this 31% promo from Baskin Robbins. So I decided to buy it and keep it for her. I wanted to celebrate her discharge with the ice cream. I just wished that she can have it by tomorrow.

I just couldn’t continue writing this anymore.

I still can’t help to blame myself for not being there at most of the time when she needs me, to blame myself for taking things so easily, to blame myself for not listening to her. I have always been so kind towards others, but when it comes to my family, I just black off. We have been so strong until I could not believe that we too have down time and need each other by our side.

I want this page to serve as a reminder to myself as well as every one out there that there is nothing more valuable than our family members and their health. I don’t want any other thing more than their health.

my beloved sister

Hiking + Cooking

yes...I went on hiking again.

Last week I went on hiking at FRIM, Kepong with my AIESEC friends...Anne, Gan, Simon, Seanz, Poh Doo and Bee Lin and my sis.

According to the online review and description, this place has got excellent view of KL city center from the tree top canopy.

This is how it looks like

But we were very very dissapointed to learn that I was closed for maintainance.... :-(

Anyway we still enjoyed the hike and the so called water fall.

After the tiring hike, all of us returned to my sis house and cooked for our get together. I made spagetti and sushi with Anne's help and our Mr Gan made us a half steamed and half baked cake. As my sis house is lack of utensil we ended up having to remove the cake from steming half way through to give way to my spagetti and baked it using microwave. Thank Gan for his effort .... :-)

The dinner was great and my sis house was sparkling clean...and all the food ate up, no left over.

thanks to Gan, Anne, Simon and Seanz...oh yes besides the food, it was great to have such a get together....managed to catch up with Ren Chang, Raja and Whitsney....though a little busy then preparing for my presentation on the following day.

2nd SAC = 2nd AIESEC internship

I am really tired now. I am exhausted after the packed up schedule week.

First I have 2 report of main project to submit and 2 other presentations on this very final week of the semester. And today I am in the SAC.

Oh yes I went for SAC for my 2nd internship under AIESEC. I know this may sound so crazy. I have just confirmed about this SAC on friday evening and I actually sat for it on saturday morning. I was rushing to complete the forms, wrote an essay for that and prepared my resume. So I only managed to get on bed at about 3am and woke up at at 7am.

It was scheduled to start at 9am but however we only managed to start at about 9.30am coz few of our panelists could not make it on time...Malaysian time right? well may be not....haha

Things has changed pretty much. Many protocols and red tape. We have all in 3 round. 1st is individual presentation on a current issue where I was given the topic on illegal and unethical abortion.

Then in the 2nd round, we have a group discussion on giving away free condom to prevent HIV/AIDS. Well personally, I didn't agreed to it in a whole. I believe free condom is not the best solution here considering that the majority cases of HIV/AIDS transmission in Malaysia is through the sharing of needle. So I believed that instead of preventing AIDS, we will ended up having more pre-maritial sex and illegal abbortion issue. There are many other steps that can be taken to prevent HIV/AIDS, such as sex education, creating awareness on HIV/AIDS, religious and etc.

Finally in the 3rd and also the last round, we had interview session. Many questions were thrown to us. As for me, most of them were about my past internship experience and my capability to adapt to a new culture and my role as an AIESEC and Malaysia ambassador.

Phey....finally I passed...such a relieve after a whole hectic week. Am looking forward to my internship but let's not day dream now...my final examination is up next week...

Here I wanna thank all my supportive family and friends...

World Food Day 2007

WORLD FOOD DAY 2007

Another day to celebrate about...16 October yearly

WAGGGS is celebrating World Food Day 2007 with Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO). The theme this year is "The Right To Food".

Really hope that everyone can play a role here. Nothing much need to be done, just appreciate your food....every time you want to throw your food, just think about them

Besides that on World Food Day 2006, a cartoon-style story book entitled The Right to Food: A Window on the World and a companion Resource and Activity Guide were launched to educate young people and motivate them to join in the fight against hunger and malnutrition.

Do look into it! The book is available in six languages. If you would like to have a copy, please write to RTF-youth@fao.org.

Blog Action Day

On October 15th, bloggers around the web will unite to put a single important issue on everyone’s mind - the environment. Every blogger will post about the environment in their own way and relating to their own topic. The aim is to get everyone talking towards a better future.

Well what I have to say about this topic???

hmm...here it is!

During my school years, I have never like to sing our National Anthem and my school song....perhaps because we were actually made to sing them everyday during morning assembly. However there is one song which I loved so much and one which I still sing often.

It is the song by Zainal Abidin and title 'Hijau' (green in Engish). I believe all those who understand Bahasa Malaysia will understand its meaning....hope that all Malaysians would really appreciate this song and think twice on how your every action can change this world.

Let's practise 5R....Recycle, Reuse, Reduce, Rethink and Repair....this is the theme of the AIESEC UPM's Miracle Conference which I have organized and facilitated 2 years ago.

Let's enjoy HIJAU....GREEN

World Vision clip

I just got to know recently that my big bro has been sponsoring a child from Lebanon. Never thought he will do so. So if an apathy guy like him would sponsor why not others?

Too many plans for year end break

The break has yet to come but I have been thrown with so many plans.

Yesterday I received 2 official invitation.

One is from the 3P group. It's a program co-organized by the Higher Education Ministry. They provides professional certification such as CCNA, MCSE, Java and etc here. For those unaware of what these are....they are actually professional certification for computing, networking and engineering fields and normally they are very costly (ranging hundreds to thousands). So under this program I have been selected to join the CCNA program. It is schedule from 19 Nov to 8Dec.

Secondly is the invi from the Girl Guides Asso. They are organizing a training course from 21 Nov to 26 Nov in Holiday Inn Glenmarie, KL and if I am to join them then I will be one of the facilitator cum trainer candidate there. I am not sure how far or how long more I will be with GGA but what I am certain now is that I want to contribute to guiding movement. I sincerely admire Pn Phuah for her guiding spirit. Despite her age and her illness, she is still so keen to guiding. So looking at the current situation in Penang GGA of lack of qualified trainers, I do hope that I can do something on this. Moreover this time, I think the test would be easier as it is a
centralized training course. Rather than me doing all the planning
and executing it all by myself, now we have a team of us.

I am undecided. On top of this 2 plans, I have my earlier pre-planned holiday trip. I have planned to do backpacking in Thailand, mainly in the northen cities like Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Bangkok as well as the Golden Triangle. May be crossing the Myammar border too. I have booked all my flight tickets there. This trip will be from 26 Nov to 22 Dec.

Golden Triangle - My destination this yr end

My elephant ride in Chiang Mai

River cruise in Bangkok

So which is a better choice for me?

Tomorrow : 30 hour Famine Camp 2007 Theme Song

This is a nice song that I wanted to share with you all. Hope you will like it.

Lyrics

The world we live in
Can do with giving
A child today
Is a child of our tomorrow

I’ve seen the children
Who have been broken
By wars and hunger and natural disaster
So broken

When tomorrow comes
We must have hope
We must reach out
To every single child

When Tomorrow comes
We spread our love
And make it a better day

生活会有悲和喜
We’ve gotta pray and do our best
只要伸出我们的手
To bring you a better tomorrow

明天孩子们会有希望
会长出耀眼的翅膀
When Tomorrow comes
We spread our love
And make it a better day/让你我都飞扬

明天孩子们会有希望
会长出耀眼的翅膀
When Tomorrow comes
We spread our love
And make it a better day

My French lecturer asked us to write a recipe in French as our Assignment. But the trick is that she wants us to have a recipe of our Traditional food. I guess that she is trying to stop us from downloading straight from the internet.
